| Hauptaufgaben: |
As specialist insecticide mode of resistance your main tasks will be the following:
• Independently or working as part of a team manage and conduct studies to determine the mode of resistance for insecticide resistant arthropods, including objective setting, experimental design, communication of interim and final findings and defining next actions • To develop and implement biochemical and molecular techniques to determine the distribution and impact of insecticide resistance. Provide method proposals, logistic and cost evaluations and justification for method development • To design and utilize research tools to determine the resistance risk posed to research insecticides • Develop external knowledge networks, identifying key collaborators and potential new technologies and techniques for identifying insecticide resistance mechanisms • In accordance with project guidelines liaise with countries and external contacts to ensure that insecticide resistance project activities are conducted in an orderly and timely manner • Contribute knowledge and experience of Insecticide resistance and molecular biology to projects through project meetings and to help identify problems and devise solutions • May lead small work groups related to area of expertise and within defined scope of team activities • Represent the Insecticide Resistance Team and Syngenta Crop Protection at external events (International Conferences, Meetings, etc) • Act as a representative of the insecticide resistance team and Syngenta to promote sustainable insecticide product use, insecticide resistance management and good agricultural practice to external customers and influencers

| Anforderungen: |
As specialist insecticide mode of resistance you should have the following knowledge, experience and capabilities:
• At least 2 years practical experience of conducting molecular and biochemical techniques related to resistance research • Experience in designing and conducting molecular biology techniques for identifying resistance (e.g. PCR, qPCR, sequencing, pyrosequencing, microarrays) • Working knowledge of biochemical techniques for determining mode of resistance (e.g. ELISA, SDS PAGE, Spectro-flurometric & absorbance assays) • Background knowledge of insect resistance biology (bioassay techniques, synergist studies) • Background of agricultural entomology • Working as part of a research team and as part of a scientific network • Experimental project planning and organisational skills • Ability to communicate and interact with scientific and non-scientific colleagues and audiences • Flexibility and willingness to support others • English language essential (written & spoken) and German language advantage (spoken)
